No single brand wins for every home. Published warranty terms, available efficiency tiers, and dealer coverage differ more than the equipment itself, and installation quality affects performance and lifespan more than the nameplate. Does a higher SEER2 rating always save money?
Only when your cooling hours are high enough to recover the upcharge. SEER2 measures rated seasonal efficiency under test conditions, so the same unit saves far more in a hot, humid climate than in a mild one. Run the payback with your own utility rate and runtime before paying for a top efficiency tier.
Should I repair my existing system or replace it?
Age, refrigerant type, and repair cost relative to replacement drive the decision. Are heat pumps a real replacement for a furnace?

How much of an HVAC quote is installation versus equipment?
Equipment is often less than half of a residential replacement quote. Ductwork changes, electrical work, line sets, permits, and labor make up the rest, which is why identical equipment can carry very different prices from two contractors.
